The association between statin use and dementia in Alzheimer's Disease Lead Investigator: Meena Wanas Institution : Campbell University E-Mail : phtm5@hotmail.com Proposal ID : 111 Proposal Description: We are trying to determine if there is an association between statins and dementia in Alzheimer's disease population. Then our secondary analysis is trying to determine if there is a correlation between race, gender and statin use in Alzheimer's disease population. From previous studies it was determined that statins was shown to have potential protection in reducing dementia, but there was no true evidence. NACC was the first database created to collect Alzheimer's data from different centers and have unified data collection methods. Therefore we are conducting a retrospective, cross-sectional study, on this database to determine the above stated associations. Some of the statistics that will be performed to determine these correlations or associations are: linear regression, and t-test.
